When I start the 10 day detox, can I substitute some recipes from the WB 30 min or less cookbook if I like them better? As long as I do the shakes and supplements with the pre/ probiotics?

The book itself invites you to substitute using recipes from the back. I’ve not looked into the issue of going outside the book, but it’s probably safe to make such a substitution if you meet these objectives:
• The substitute meal needs to be 15 grams net carb or less (and most other WB recipes are).
• If the 10Day recipe being substituted contained any prebiotic fiber ingredients (page 67), make sure the substitute meal does as well.
«As long as I do the shakes and supplements with the pre/ probiotics?»
The book suggests that those can be taken as a different meal during the day, but be sure to get one each day as directed in the program.

I noticed Dr. Davis mentioned that we should be getting ” 3000 to 3600 mg per day” of fish oil. He then suggested we get it from the triglyceride form. Is this even possible? Most triglycerides provide low doses of DHA and EPA it seems. That would a fortune to spend on triglyceride fish oil. Should you settle for the esther form to reach the recommended doses of EPA and DHA on this blog?

The TG form is preferred but not mandatory. The methyl ester form may be less well absorbed.
«Is this even possible?»
3000-3600 mg of Nordic Naturals (a premium brand, and described by the brand as the TG form) would be about US$1.35 per day at Amazon prices.
Sam’s Club 795863 Fish Oil plus D3, which doesn’t specify the form of the oil that I’ve so far been able to discover, works out to about US$0.38 per day (and would provide ample D3 as well).
Buying liquid fish oil might be even cheaper.
«Most triglycerides provide low doses of DHA and EPA it seems. That would a fortune to spend on triglyceride fish oil.»
What products are you looking at? If Krill, then yes, that is a preposterously expensive way to get DHA&EPA, and is why it’s not recommended. Cod liver oil is also not recommended, as it would provide excess Vitamin A, and raises various exposure risks, principally mercury.
«Should you settle for the esther form to reach the recommended doses of EPA and DHA on this blog?»
I’m using the Sam’s product at the moment. It may well be the ester.
For some context, 3 grams of fish oil is what is provided by 3 std. small cans of sardines. If you eat a lot of fish, you can reduce any supplementation correspondingly.

Oh wow. If you’re talking about 3000-36000 mg of the actual DHA and EPA I have never seen any amount close to that with triglyceride forms. It would be much more than $1.35 a day reaching that amount. Nordic Naturals seems to be the best in terms of overall quality (no fish aftertaste, well-purified).
I’ve looked at a few other product lines and I don’t recall seeing anything close to 3,000-3600. Even the ester form seems to offer lower than the WB target. I’d probably rather take fish oil more than eating an equivalent of fish (mercury, toxins, radiation).
D wrote: «If you’re talking about 3000-3600 mg of the actual DHA and EPA…»
That’s the target, and Dr. Davis always emphasizes that it’s the amount of DHA+EPA, and not the total amount of oil.
«I have never seen any amount close to that with triglyceride forms.»
I haven’t seen any capsules that provide much over 1000 mg (1 gram) of DHA+EPA per unit dose. In addition to considerations of market demand, a 3 gram capsule might well be physically too large.
«It would be much more than $1.35 a day reaching that amount.»
Well, let’s run the numbers for one, Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega 3 (Amazon ASIN B002CQU564)
US$47.36 for 180 capsules
25.3¢ per cap.
1100 mg DHA+EPA per cap
so 3 caps per day, or
78.9¢ per day.
«I’d probably rather take fish oil more than eating an equivalent of fish (mercury, toxins, radiation).»
It’s no coincidence that I used sardines as the basis for a whole-fish equivalency. Bait fish, being lower in the food chain, accumulate a lot less Hg. The other toxin hazards I haven’t studied much (such as dioxins and micro-plastics). Fukushima radiation can be mitigated by seeking North Atlantic fish (and frankly may not be that big a hazard for people following Wheat Belly, which I consider to be a highly cancer-resistant diet).

When will the next detox start? I would like to get the book but if I order it today it won’t be here by tomorrow .
Mary wrote: «When will the next detox start?»
The article says the 17th (tomorrow as I write this), with enrollment open today and tomorrow.
«I would like to get the book but if I order it today it won’t be here by tomorrow.»
The Kindle edition might be an option.
Otherwise see if there’s another challenge in March (and I don’t have information on that).

I followed the wheat free diet for nearly six months and I have achieved lots of progress, I am no more on diabetes tablets. But yesterday I started the 10 days detox, and found that I am having heartburn and reflux from the recipes in the book. I am no longer on reflux tablets and I don’t really wants to go pack. Is there anything natural I can take to ease my heartburn , as I would like to continue with the 10 days detox, and the foods takes very yummy and a bit concern about putting back the weight.

Which wheat free diet? (which Wheat Belly book, if any)
«I am no more on diabetes tablets.»
Excellent. It sounds like in addition to being wheat free, your diet was also low net carb.
«But yesterday I started the 10 days detox, and found that I am having heartburn and reflux from the recipes in the book.»
Can you describe how the 10 Day recipes differ from what you were eating in the prior six months?
I’m wondering in particular if you had been doing anything in about gut flora in the previous six months. That would include any daily prebiotic fiber, and any probiotic supplements.
«…a bit concern about putting back the weight.»
The 10 Day recipes won’t add any weight. You are more likely to lose more, or, if already at your ideal weight, see no change at all.
But let’s work on this reflux issue.
